Message from our Co-Founder
Dear Gardeners,
As we celebrate World Soil Day on December 5th, we are reminded of the essential role soil plays in the health of our crops, our environment, and our future ππ
This yearβs theme for World Soil Day is Caring for soils: Measure, Monitor, Manage, where the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will focus on the importance of accurate soil data and information in understanding soilsβ characteristics, and supporting informed decision-making on sustainable soil management for food security.
Healthy soil is the foundation of sustainable agriculture and the key to nourishing our world. While this event only takes place for a day, it is important to come back to these themes throughout the year. As gardeners, there is no one better who knows about soils than us! Feel free to share this newsletter with your family and friends as we spread awareness about soil health.
With the holiday season starting, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued support. This time of the year is all about reflection, giving, and the joy of coming together, and weβre excited to share valuable insights with you as we wrap up 2024. Whether you're enjoying cozy moments at home or planning for the new year ahead, weβre here to bring you the latest updates and tips to help you make the most of your gardening season year-round.
On behalf of everyone here at Nurture Growth Biofertilizer, we wish you a joyful, sustainable holiday season!
Yours very truly,
Le Luong, Co-Founder & CEO of Nurture Growth Biofertilizer

As the year comes to a close, itβs a good time to reflect on your gardening practices. Consider what worked and didnβt work this year, what youβd like to try again, what you can change, and what experiments you want to try for next season.
Read below on your December Garden Checklist:
β
PREPARE: Clean, readjust, and sharpen the blades of pruning tools, and apply a light coat of oil to protect them from rusting
β
PLAN: Get a head start with your spring garden and start germinating the seeds you have saved
β
PROSPER: Start winterizing your houseplants and water with our biofertilizer

Advancing Women Conference

Our co-founder Le was invited to speak at the Advancing Women Conference in Niagara, and participated at the World Agritech Summit in Montreal.
Women in agriculture, just like in other industries, need to embrace networking not only to expand their contacts, but also to gain support and mentorship in the face of challenges!

Our onsite mini greenhouse is almost in full swing with various experiments on seed germination and comparison between control and treated plants. Weβve also moved some of our rare tropical plants to the green house and they are loving in this cozy warm space! πΏπ
We installed time controlled grow-lights and created a temperature-controlled environment to simulate outdoor growing conditions.
Stay tuned with updates about our experiments on various crops and houseplants!

We visited Gush, an indoor controlled environment that grows strawberries in Montreal! π
Ophelia, the founder, was kind enough to give us a tour of the facilities and explained how important it is to grow more sustainably without using pesticides. She founded Gush because strawberries are on the list of produce that are highly contaminated with pesticides. She knew there was a better way to grow them and started her first indoor strawberry farm and will be opening a second facility in 2025.
Additionally growing locally meant that Gush can provide strawberries to local communities, rather than transporting it from other countries and therefore reducing the carbon footprint.
