Message from our Co-Founder
Dear Friends,
Happy September! I hope you had a restful Labour Day long weekend 😊
For many, this holiday marks the end the summer holidays as children return to school and parents return to their work schedules! The air is slowly becoming cooler which begs the question, “to continue gardening, or to not”. There are plenty of chores to complete before we “FALL” into autumn! 🍂 Don’t miss our past blogs about your “Cleanup Checklist Around the House and Garden” and “Planting Veggies for the Fall and Winter”, and our newest blog “Mastering the Art of Seed Saving” to help you maintain your garden this fall.
Yours very truly,
Le Luong, Co-Founder & CEO of Nurture Growth Biofertilizer

Seed Germination Experiment 🌱
Ankita, our Senior Science Officer started conducting an experiment on radish seed germination and the use of our biofertilizer using the paper towel method. This is to see if our product helps with the germination process of the seedling! DAY 1:
|
The radish seeds were divided into two groups, with one group soaked in distilled water (control) and the other in a biofertilizer solution prepared by dissolving 1 teaspoon of biofertilizer in 125 ml of water. Each group had four replications with 10 seeds per replicate. Seeds were placed on paper towels, covered, and stored in Ziplock bags. Based on her early findings, it’s evident that Nurture Growth Biofertilizer has a positive impact on the germination of seeds. The germination was monitored daily, and results showed that seeds treated with our biofertilizer germinated faster than those in the control group, indicating that our biofertilizer had a positive effect on seed germination.
DAY 2: | |
|
This is the preliminary phase of our experiment. We are also conducting similar tests with other seeds and will provide updates on our findings as they become available!

Celebrating Organic Month 🌽
|
Did you know that September marks a month-long celebration of organic food, farming and products? The purpose of Organic Month is to raise awareness of the advantages of organic food and farming. Organic foods are produced without using harmful chemicals, antibiotics and pesticides and go thorough vigorous certification. To celebrate Organic Month, the Canada Organic Trade Association is offering FREE online movie screenings of “Common Ground” and “Organic Rising.” The registration links can be found in our events section of this newsletter. We take pride in our products being certified as organic inputs by OMRI and PROCERT. Each year, we provide detailed documentation to these certifying bodies to meet the standards of the Canadian Organic Regime (COR) and the National Organic Program (NOP) in the United States. To achieve organic certification, growers must adhere to rigorous standards that exceed general food safety laws. This includes using land free from synthetic chemicals and fertilizers for at least three years, maintaining comprehensive records of all inputs, and undergoing regular on-site inspections. As a certified organic biofertilizer, our product ensures compliance with both the Canadian Organic Regime in Canada (COR) and the National Organic Program in the United States (NOP), giving organic growers confidence in its integrity. For home growers, this means our biofertilizer is free from harmful chemicals and safe for the environment, people, and pets. With Nurture Growth Biofertilizer, you can be assured that your loved ones are safe.

On August 15, we participated in the Vegetable Research Day presented by Ontario Processing Vegetable Growers (OPVG), Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMFRA), University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus, and Nortera! 🌽
We rotated between seven stations where farmers, researchers, and agricultural specialists presented about topics such as weed management, foliar pathogens, soil management in sweet corn, soil pathogens and root rots, foliar nutrition and sweet corn fungicides. 🌱🦠
We were privy to preliminary results of a pea trial that was conducted by the University of Guelph. After the presentations, we were treated to a traditional BBQ lunch!

“Pulled some garlic today to check it out. Still a little early for some but it is looking beautiful! My best crop ever.”

"After years of disappointment, Nurture Growth Bio transformed our Rose de Lautrec garlic harvests. In just one year, bulb size improved significantly. By the second year, after three applications, we not only grew market-worthy bulbs but also delighted customers with the garlic's delicate flavor and beauty."
