APRIL 2025

Message from our Co-Founder

Dear Gardeners,

April is a season of growth, renewal, and new possibilitiesโ€”and thereโ€™s no better time to reconnect with the earth. As your gardens come to life, weโ€™re reminded that sustainable choices at home can have a powerful impact on the planet.

At Nurture Growth Bio Fertilizer, our vision is to support healthier soil, more vigorous plants, and a greener future through our eco-friendly biofertilizer. This Earth Day (April 22), letโ€™s celebrate by giving back to the planetโ€”one garden, seedling and compost pile at a time.

In this issue, weโ€™ve got the April Garden Checklist, our blog about Growing Cool Weather Vegetables in Plant in the Early Spring for Zone 5 and other inspirations to make your garden and houseplants flourish all season long.

Hereโ€™s to growing with purpose and nurturing the earth together.

Yours very truly,

Le Luong

Co-Founder & CEO of Nurture Growth Bio Fertilizer

Spring is in the air with the birds chirping, tree buds forming, and the snow slowly melting โ€“  which means weโ€™re so close to gardening season! Hereโ€™s what you need to get started:

Read below on your April Garden Checklist:

โœ… PREPARESoil Test your gardenโ€™s soil since the snow has cleared. This will give you an idea of what nutrients it needs to have a thriving garden

โœ… PLAN: If you havenโ€™t already, start planning the layout of your garden

โœ… PRUNE: Prune away branches that have succumbed to winter damage before the new shoots of spring emerge

โœ… PROSPER: Keep an eye on weather conditions and stay informed on the average last frost date to know when to transplant your seedlings outdoors

๐ŸŒฑ Research Update ๐ŸŒฑ

Our indoor growing facility is almost full as we are continuing our trials on peppers, basil and bok choy.

Last week, we started our pilot trials on sweetpotatoes and potatoes.  To ensure the integrity of the trial, we are testing the methodology before we fully implement a full-scale indoor trial.

In the coming weeks, we are conducting trials on the germination of cannabis and grass seeds.  We are excited to share the results when they are available.

PEC Spring Tune Up Show

Prince Edward County is an up-and-coming wine region with boutique wineries serving some of Canadaโ€™s best kept secrets in wine.  We were fortunate to sample many of these wines at their reception the night prior to the event.

We were thrilled to sponsor a session at the Prince Edward County Spring Tune Up Show. Our CEO, Le Luong, shared a short presentation about the Malivoire trial conducted in 2024.  It was great to see many of our growers.

Blueberry Field Day

Thank you to Wilmot Orchards for hosting Blueberry Field Day.  The day began with a presentation about soil health followed by other topics and a tour of their orchard.  We were sent home with a goody bag with blueberry jam.  I am excited to try to blueberry mustard spread which was featured in the Toronto Life Magazine.

Ginseng Industry Day

Thank you to the Ontario Ginseng Association for hosting another information-packed day.  We even had a surprise visit from MPP Bobbi-Ann Brady and MP Arpan Khanna.

In 2024, we ran several trials with ginseng growers and received great feedback from them.  In one of our Year 4 trials, the field workers saw a noticeable difference in the treated area.  The grower was thrilled and will be fully implementing Nurture Growth in all his ginseng.  Contact us to learn about conducting trials in your ginseng garden.
